I just recently upgraded my Ram to 768 MB (3x 256mb
sd,dimm,pc133), however I am getting a message that my ram
is getting low and I am running 58% system resource free.
According to my user manual I can max out at around 1.5
gig. I removed all 3, reloaded & rebooted 1 at a time. The
first 2 times while checking navram it indicated the
proper amounts of ram but did not show it after installing
the third chip. Under "Performance" in System Properties,
at 256mb I'm only showing 55% free and under"General It's
indicating the proper amount of Ram onboard. Any
Suggestions??? Am running a PIII 1 ghz.

When using 512 or above you need to add a line
in the msconfig, system.ini, vcache.
        MaxFileCache=512000
Then Win should use the ram properly but if it is
not posting on startup as 768+ you have other problems.
Try the 3rd chip in the first slot then
add the oter two I have seen this.
                 Hope this helps.

No amount of added memory will solve your problem - if indeed you have a
problem, that is.

Where and when exactly does this "system memory low" message pop up?
Exactly what does it say, word-for-word?  There isn't any such message in
Windows that I know of.  There is a message that you're getting low on
system resources - and system resources are NOT memory.

That 55% number you're seeing isn't memory, that is system resources.

Start here to know the difference and what you can do about it:
