I think I have a virus but I've never seen anything like it. My screen has
flashing verticle lines and I can hardly see the screen. I used GoBack to
try to revert the drive and it didn't help. I can't even get a boot disk to
work because I can't see past the lines. I tried re-seating my video card.
Nothing. What can I do? I can't even reformat the drive. Any ideas?

Please stick to one newsgroup with your request for help.  Posting it
multiple places won't get you better advice and only creates more work for

Hi,
Try to determine whether is the hardware problem by isolating whether is
video board, motherboard or monitor. Get a bootup disk of any window version
and make sure BIOS set to boot from diskette first. Upon powering up PC
should see the boot up BIOS on the monitor display and follow by the booting
up of the diskette operating system. If you cannot get to here try to swap
with another video card  or those with built in motherboard vga port needs
an external video card. If the same problem change monitor and the final
stage nail to motherboard. Make sure to power off PC when doing swapping. In
this state better buy a new piece of motherboard for replacement.
Cheers

it's probaby not a virus...
possibly a corrupted video card driver or maybe the card itself
(or maybe even a monitor problem)

at any rate try first substituting components etc...
if your system is corrupted and you need to reinstall...
it's probably the "Go Back" utility which is keeping you from formatting the
drive...in that case you may need to run fdisk
delete everything
then start over

GoBack must be disabled before formating. On my system it gives me the
option. That is, it tells me I must disable GoBack before reformting and I
think also to reboot then you should be able to reformat.
