I made a mistake in installing a multi-card reader, having connected the
hardware before installing the drivers as I should have. Any ideas on
how I can remove the drivers so that I can correctly reinstall them?

Thank you

It depends on the way the manufacturer wrote the drivers, but I'd first
check Control Panel, Add/remove programs for an entry.

If nothing there, then try booting into Safe mode and remove the entry from
Device Manager (if it exists).

Also, check the manufacturer's web site.  If the previous two don't work
then you may find instructions for driver removal in their support section.

I wouldn't worry about uninstalling them.  Simply go into Device Manager,
find the device entry and do a driver update.
