MDAC and MS JET:  How to tell if they're present?

I got an advisory that if I have problems with a certain program, I might
need to update, replace, or even add two files:  MDAC 2.8 and/or MS JET.  I
can't figure this out, so how do I find these files and their versions on my
computer?  Apparently they are very large files which I would not be able to
download without a lot of tension (I can't get better than dialup).

Thanks.

When you are looking for MS files, go here and use the search function:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en   which for
MDAC 2.8 will lead here:

You can also find info on JET with the search function.
