Hi,

Sometimes for no apparent reason a couple of the icons on my task bar change
into something other than the norm.  What causes this?

Thanks,
Nutty

Depending on the application, there can be many reasons for this....

1) It could be part of the application that's causing it...ie ZoneAlarm

2) If the setting for the number of colors being displayed by the video card
changes.

3) Your system could be infected by a virus.

Generally it occurs because the shelliconcache file is clogged up with
duplicate icons.  Solution is to rebuild the file and then increase the
cache size.
