My computer takes about 1 minute to boot up.  It used to
take about 20 seconds or less.  I have installed no new
programs.  I tried scandisk, defrag, empty temporary
internet files to speed up.  Nothing has worked.

I also used msconfig and selective start to minimize the
things that load at startup.  Again no help.

Finally I tried a step-by-step boot.  The only thing that
seems out of the ordinary is that the mouse driver loads
slowly.  But I have not changed the mouse or the driver.

Win98 SE, 256 Meg RAM, 1 MHz AMD Athalon

I appreciate any ideas.

you should get the Boot Log Analyser to verify what is making your boot
slow, look for it at google.com
