Hi,
I installed Coreldraw on my win 98 se system, and now it will only start
in safe mode. When I try to do a normal reboot, or even a selective one
with most of the drivers, which were there before, loading, I get a
black screen almost immediately, and the error message:
Error: Real mode system memory allocation failed while initializing
device IOS.
After that only the three fingered salute will produce any result.
When I boot in safe mode, things seem normal.
Can anyone point the way to resolving this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Margo Guda.

Remove CorelDraw .... reboot and make sure it comes up normal again .. then
re-install Corel ... Corel applications can be trouble in the first place.

Also, try the support on Corel's homepage.

Yes the system is back to normal. I've also learned a little more about
what caused the problem, thanks to someone on the corel forum delving
into the problem. The number of fonts is to blame. Many apps need their
own special fonts,  and then there are windows' default installed fonts.
I periodically clean out unnecessary fonts, but it's not easy deciding
which is which, so I had a total of 173 fonts installed. Then the new
coreldraw wants to add to that, I suppose... and bang, a corrupted
registry. At this point I'm thinking going to CD11 is probably not worth
the trouble...

The trick is to use the custom install and only select the default fonts.
Windows has trouble when 500+ fonts are installed. However, Coreldraw normally
warns you that you are going to exceed that limit and suggests the above.
