We have four computers networked - 3 new Pavilions
(WinXPs) and an old HP on Win98. All have internet
connectivity and can browse the shared folders. The 3 XP
machines print fine to the shared printers, but on the
Win98 machine when I browse to select the network printer
and set it up it can't see them. When I give it the
correct port addresses it does the same thing. I have it
set up to allow sharing both ways and have installed
additional drivers on my XP machine so that outside
machines will have drivers set up. What do I need to do
to add the printer and have it work?

Have you actually shared the Printer?  Is the Shared name 12 characters or
less with no spaces in it?

Cari, You're an angel. It was shared, but the name was
more than 12 characters and had spaces. I changed it and
it worked. (who would have thought?) Thanks a million.

It's often something really small and easy to fix...but those are always
overlooked while we spend ages searching for bigger problems which don't
exist!

You're welcome!
