prints OK after acknowledging message and killing hpftbx06
or will initiate a new job after acknowledging and killing
hpfvls06, but it is a pain to have to keep hitting the
return key

the files are clean, so far as I can tell;  I suspect some
application has messed with some Windows files, since the
printer used to work just fine without the babysitting

any suggestions on where to look?

This document shows what is installed with your printer driver, you may have some
corruption

Might be helpful to completely uninstall the software and start all over...

I had already checked the document and done an uninstall
followed by a new install.  I think it is something that
has been messed up in Win98.

Do you have a Microsoft Intellipoint mouse?  If so, check out this article:

I have the same problem with my HP 720c.  It worked fine
for 2 years.  If you find out anything, please repost.

Thanks,  frustrated
