We have succesfully shared many printers on XP machines
that can be seen from 98. BUT we have problems seeing
ones which are sharing HP laserjet 1000 printers (With
USB connection) should we be able to see them from 98?

According to HP, this printer fully supports being shared on a network using
Windows sharing.

Are you able to connect to the printer if you type in the path rather than
browsing to the printer?  Browsing (being able to see the printer) and
actually connecting are totally different issues.

Make sure that there are no spaces in the computer name or the printer name
that you are attempting to connect to.  Win98 did not deal well with spaces
in names.
