Trying to pring & communications fault comes up,"unable to
establish bi-directional communications with printer".
Pressing continue on screen will allow printer to print.
However, now printer will not print. Items show up in
print queue & the queue sometimes shows items printing,
but their not. Computer shows a spooling problem. Have
used printers with another computer and it works. Used IBM
recovery CD, & took computer to original settings.
Reinstalled programs and printer. Same problem.  Is there
a fix?

Could be your driver is corrupt, might try re-installing the driver after completely
removing it.

Go to the manufacturer's web site and look around for a driver upgrade for your
printer.

Can be a printer cable defect.  Also can be the printer port not setup
properly for ECP.  Check your printer port in device manager.  Ran across
one printer that would not work with ECP/EPP combo set in bios.  But, would
work with only ECP set.  Also look for resource conflicts with printer port.
