I get this message when I go to install a printer that is attached to LPT1
via the parallel port. I've replaced Winspool.drv and the other 2 spooler
files from the Windows 98 CD-Rom (per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;220854). I can print
fine to my network printers but when I go to install the local printer, I get
the error message "The Add Printer Wizard Was Unable to Find Any Installed
Ports for Your Printer". This machine is a P4 2.0 GHz machine with 320MB Ram,
several gigs of HD space, Windows 98 Second Edition and the Novell Netware
client version 3.13.
Any suggestions?

Is the LPT port seen in Device Manager?

Did you replace spool32.exe? See the following:

If you can print from DOS as described, then you could probably print by
adding the port LPT1.DOS.

I did replace spool32.exe but I neglected to try to print from dos (copy
text.txt lpt1). My client did not want me to waste any more time on the
problem since he could print to network printers. He is going to call me back
when he gets more time for me to work with it. Thanks for your help.
