Win98SE, HPDeskjet 710C
Windows on C partition
Programs on E partition
Other partitions available

Is it possible to change the location of the temporary spool
file that is created while printing?. My C: partition is of
restricted size to facilitate disk imaging with programs and
data on E partition. When printing very large files from a
photo thumbnail printing program or from Publisher if the
page is graphics intensive I sometimes run out of disk space
for the spool fle.

This is easily done with Windows NT but not with Win98.  I suggest that
instead you move things like the Temporary Internet Files (in IE, Tools,
Internet Options, Temporary Internet files Settings, Move folder.

You can also move the swap file - right click My Computer, click
Performance, Virtual Memory, then click Let me specify my own virtual memory
settings.  Change the drive letter.  I suggest that you do not change the
minimum or maximum size but let Windows continue to manage the size.

Using TweakUI, you can easily change the location of several special folders
such as My Documents, Favorites, etc.  I'm guessing that just moving the
swap file and Temporary Internet files (if this system uses IE) will take
care of your problem.

Many thanks. I suspected from Googling that I couldn't
change the spool location in 98SE. I have moved my swap file
to G:\ and that has freed up the necessary space and doesn't
seem to have broken anything yet.
