Printer not responding

Hi,

This one has got me stumped. I have windows 98 se and until recently
operated a Lexmark z11 printer with no problems.

However now my printer fails to respond to printing requests from various
applications-with message printer not responding.

This however is invariably on first attempt to print- closing down print
tray and retrying to print sometimes kicks the printer into action so does
switching the printer off and on.

Device manager shows no conflicts -tried reinstalling driver-deleting
printer port and recreating it, trawling the registry for old printer
files-basically I have come to a dead end.

Any thoughts welcome,
#Thanks Matt

Is it possible to use USB connection?  The parallel port on the motherboard
may be failing.

Thanks for this,
I will have to investigate whether I can- maybe I need
a parallel port - USb converter if such a thing exists ?
