No USB port to print to. The software appears to install without error. The
USB device shows up, There are no problems apparent in device manager, but
the USB printer port is not created. Lexmark was of no help. I have become
a master of uninstall/reinstall. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mike Lynn

You may need to uninstall the system USB drivers, and reinstall them, or
obtain updated system USB port drivers.

I had a USB port installed. The software appears to
intall but then it says unable to install. I install
at "Add New Printer". All is well until ready to print.
Then I get the message "Communication Problem". My Device
Manager also states I have a USB port and everything seems
to be functioning.

Do not install your USB printer using Add new printer. Most printer
manufacturers have an installation program for their printers and you MUST
use their installer and you MUST follow their directions exactly. At this
point, I would boot into Safe mode and go into the printers folder and
remove the USB printer if it shows up here. Then go to the manufacturer's
web site and find the latest drivers for this printer and the instructions
on installing it and download the driver and print out the instructions and
follow them exactly.
Some manufacturer's have a removal tool that you can use to remove all
traces of your previous printer installations and I recommend that you use
this if your manufacturer has one.
In most cases, you are instructed to install the software without the
printer's USB cable being connected to the computer. At some time during
the installation, you will be instructed to turn on the printer or plug in
the printer and at that time, when your printer is plugged in and turned on,
it will be recognized and the port will be installed.
