Installing win98 from scratch on a new h-disk??

A pal of mine is building thier own pc.  They have a new hard disk
out of the box.  No operating system at all.  They have a win98
install cd.  What else is necessary.  Does she have to have a set of
DOS install disks.  How about formating the hard disk.

It is years and years since I have done any of this - what steps does
one have to take - one after the other to get this done?

Perhaps you know a www site where all this is described - or M-soft

You need a floppy bootdisk that allows you to format the disk, partition
it, and enables the CD drive. See: http://www.bootdisk.com/ and thank a
previous contributer.

You have to partition the drive using fdisk and then format the
partition(s).  For information on installing W98, go to:
