Ron,
Thanks for the info.
2- questions.
1. wipe works up to 8gigs. This system has a 40 gig HD and as far as I can
tell, no partitions (window explorer/ c: drive only--d:drive is cd).
2. drivers- do I need to open case and see what kind of hd, cd, modem, sound
card, etc. or is there an easier way with Win2k(device manager)?
I don't have any drivers(cd's) at this point but will ask relative if they
know of any laying around.
I could d/l them to this system and burn.

You don't need to zero out the entire drive--either program should work
OK so you can use fdisk.
I haven't used W2K but I would think that you could get the device
descriptions for the monitor, sound, video adapter, modem, etc., from
there and that may preclude having to crack the case.

Again, thanks.
I'll give it a try tomorrow AM when I get back to work.
Have the system there so I can work on it and work. :-)
If I can't get the info, I'm going to open it up anyway and install a cd-rw.
Will let you know.
Thanks,
L.
