Hi

I formatted hard drive ready to clean install Win 98 se
upgrade & forgot that I had left my win98 cd in my Cd/rw
drive, consequently since the bootup disc only enabled cd
rom drive D: i could not access win 98 disc.

I tried installing win 95 but it does not have the
neccessary driver to run my cd -rw drive which is a LG CED-
8083B.

I tried the LG website for win95 drivers but they do not
provide any, also i have tried pressing the emergency
eject button on my drive this does not work either :/.

Would connecting the cd rw drive to my brothers computer
motherboard work?? (Im wary of changing his setup in case
i hang his bios) and would prefer to find another solution
involving altering my comp or setup disc in someway.

Please help!!! :D

If you are using a Win98 startup disk and
your cd-rom is D and the Cd/Rw is E normally.
They should both be accessible as E and F.
Windows does not recognize the Cd/Rw to start
with it does see it as a Cd-Rom though and
you should be able to set up with it. Try this
start with a floppy at the A prompt type in
  F:     then hit enter
dir    then hit enter  this should show you
your Windows disk and if it does type in
  F:     hit enter
  setup      hit enter
               Hope this helps.

Press the eject button just when you turn on the PC.  Don't dally.

Got to www.bootdisk.com  with a working computer, and a working floppy
drive.  A Win98 startup disk will assign E to the cdrom if you have only one
hard drive with one partition, and a cdrw only.  The RAM drive used on the
startup diskette will take drive letter D.

If you have more than one CD reader device, you failed to make that clear.
