win98 setup

I have a dell with win98 2nd edition. For no apparent
reason, it suddenly would not load past the initial
blue/cloud windows 98 strart screen.
I tried re-loading win 98 and everything appeared ok but I
can't get past the Win98 starting for the first time
screen. Is there anything I can do or must I reforrmat the
hard drive?

Before  reformatting  etc, you  may  want to do some  testing  on your
hardware, test RAM with something  like  memtest86 - do the  extended
tests.
Next  run the diagnostic software from the  manufacturer of your  HDD.

If you do a ctrl alt del and find that Explorer is not running, many people
have gotten relief for this kind of problem by following the fix described
