correct list of files for 98

I find that I have a folder for 'windows' and in it is
another folder called 'windows' and the first one has a
folder called 'system' and in it is another folder
called 'system'-  I believe somehow an attempted
reinstall ended with a copy of old installed files left
in sub-folders to the main windows folders- but wanted to
find where a list of the correct files for windows are
listed to know which can be deleted-  any suggestions-

Look in MSDOS.SYS at the entries WinBootDir and WinDir - this is where
Windows is being loaded from. To access MSDOS.SYS, see:
