I would like to type a letter but on yhe left side of
the page about three inches from the top there is a
flashing line and when I take my curser to drag it off it
becomes thicker but seizes to flash How do I remove
this?
Also, how do I set the margins on both left and right?

We need to know what word processor or editor
programme you are using.

More than likely, the flashing line is simply the location of your cursor
and it will move as you type. It will not print out when you print your
letter.
To set margins, go to the File menu and see if Page setup is a choice. If
it is, you can set your margins here. If it isn't, then when you go to
File, Print, you will generally have a way to set the margins.
These features will differ some from one application to another and depend
both on the application and the printer installed, but this should be the
general location.
