Well here I detail the problem again more clearly;
1) When I start the window 98, it simply get stuckup on startup and I see
some message that is not typical of windows and window doesnot get stratup.
2) When I do the scandisk/all, I get the message while scanning part of
directory structure which reads
"Scandisk detected an invalid long filename entry on this drive but was
unable to fix it. To fix this problem, run scandisk for windows".
As I can get into windows, so obviosuly I cant run scandisk from windows.
3) I tried to use the command
scandisk /thorough
but it didnt work, giving invalid switch message.
4) I tried to run window setup again, but still get WINSU error
5) If I format the window, I fear if I cant access CDROM from DOS(which I am
not accessing from DOS right now), then how can I reload window. So I am not
formating it also.
6) There is no important files on computer, so formating it is not a problem
for me, but problem is Bad sectors and CDROm not being accessible from DOS.
7) I tried to check the directory of files from DOS, but couldnot realy find
any file with long file names. Probably I couldnt track the problematic files.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Alternatively, move or rename this suspect
file as shown in the previous post.

You must dispose of the LFN first and get Win98 running OK.

DOS access to CD drives is provided by DOS
drivers on your boot floppy. If you do not have
the correct floppy for your system you can
download its image from www.bootdisk.com

So go back to the beginning and instal the OS
0. Wriite down the CD instal key (which you type in
in step 5.)
1. Read http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html
2. Boot DOS
3. FDISK with big disk support to create C: drive
4. A:FORMAT C:
5. SETUP.EXE from your CD
If you get errors during SETUP you should repair or
replace the hard drive.
