I am trying to put win98se on my clean system. I am booting from the cd-rom and I an getting this error... Unable to control A20 Line! Xms driver not installed Setup cannot find a high memory managger and cannot continue I have never seens this error before can somebody help! Hi Todd, Boot the system with a Win98 Starup disk. At the command prompt type D:\Setup (D) being the drive letter of the CD ROM drive. You need to make a change to your startup files, and unless you can re-create that CD that means you will be booting from floppy instead. The most common cause for this error is that you have faulty RAM or cache on the system. I'd suggest having it tested. I am guessing that the reason this system is clean is that you were having problems and decided to start from scratch. This is a great troubleshooting step and when Windows will not install on such a system, the problem is almost always due to a hardware failure.
