Starting Windows for the first time

I have done many upgrades to 98SE but have seen this problem on 3 occasions.
After the upgrade is complete and the machine reboots the "starting windows
for the first time message continues to dislay on the slash at every start
up. As far as I can tell SE is installed and working properly.

How can I stop the message from appearing?

Hi Warren,

The "starting windows for the first time" logo is often left as a
result of an aborted install. Look in the root directory of the C:
drive for a hidden file called LOGO.SYS Once found, delete it. Win98
will default back to using the logo built into IO.SYS

Note: To view hidden files in Windows 98:
Click Folder Options on the View menu in Windows Explorer,
click the View tab, click Show All Files, and then click OK.
Also make sure that the "Hide Extensions for Known File Types"
is deselected. this will help you in locating the files in Explorer.

Extract the logo.sys from the setup source to the C: or D: or whatever drive.
Use a startup disk to start your PC, type ext, and then follow the
instructions.
