Hi,

my father-in-law's win98se PC is having provblems printing from outlook
express and internet explorer (V5.5).  You press print and just nothing
happens.  Yet printing is fine from other applications such as Microsoft
Word.  Any ideas?

As he has IE5.5 I thought of upgrading to v6 in the hope that that would
restore the printing, but on a dial-up line that could take a long time.
Is there any way I can download the whole of OE6 for win98SE on to my
computer (as I have DSL).  I could then transfer that to his PC.   But
when I try to download OE it only wants to install online and of course
for winXP which is what I am running.

Or any other ideas welcomed.

You could try MSINFO32.EXE / Tools / Repair IE
or look for the MS Security Update disk (Feb. 2004)
which includes IE and OE  v.6

Try reinstalling the printer drivers and ensuring that the required printer
is the Default - my 98se machine the other day, decided to make win fax the
default printer ..........

I am also on dial-up and the upgrade to IE6 was about 15 minutes.

You could suggest that he use Firefox [less than 5mb] as his browser which
is faster and easier to use.

Thanks.  Will try both approaches.
