Is there a way to not have Win98 try to install software when it
boots and finds new hardware?
I have a TV card plugged in a pci slot and it is configured
with one hard drive but not with another hard drive that just goes
on the internet and I don't want Windows trying to install software
for it.

Disable the TV card in that profile, in Device Manager, if it is already installed
there;  or during the find new hardware wizard, choose the option to finish without
installing and it should put it in the "Other" device category of Device Manager,
and not bother you again.

Alright, Glen,  I am going to try to disable it in that profile; thanks for
the information.

Glen,
When 98 booted and it started to look at the cards in the pci slots
I exited the dialog box and the next time it booted it didn't ask about
the cards and they were indeed listed in yellow in "other" under device
manager.
Good job, Thanks
Frank
