reinstalling win98

I am having a problem formating an older computer.
I formated the C drive and while running the win98 CD, the CD drive started
making a noise and then locked up.
My question is:  Since C is already formated and all the drivers gone, how
can I run the win98 CD now.  I replaced the CD drive with a good one, but it
will not reconize it since the drivers are gone.  Any suggestions?

The drivers you need during Setup after a format are provided by the Windows
Startup floppy boot disk. Does it not now see the CD drive?

What you need is a floppy boot disk.  For complete instructions on
installing W98, go here:
