Win 98 on a Dell XPS T500

The DVD ejects, tray won't remain in more than a few blinks of the light then pops open.

Drivers reinstalled, system claims alls good, I hoping one of you have solved this before and can tell me where to begin.

Thanks,

No CD drive lasts for ever.  Yours has probably
broken some mechanical (non-electronic) component
and should be replaced.  Control Panel / System
is not clever enough to test for this.
