I am running an old (1992) dos billing programe under windows 98. The
software vendor has told me that if my computer dies, I will not be
able to put windows 98 on the new computer and so will have to upgrade
to xp. I was told that the dos software will not run under xp and so I
will have to upgrade my software to the new windows version. Does this
make sense? Should I be stockpiling old computers with 98 on them, so
that I can keep using this program? I would like to keep using my dos
programs for about 8 more years when I will probably shut my office.
Thanks,
Gerry

To add to Noel's post: You probably will not be able to find W98 drivers
for new hardware--I gave up looking for them about 18 months ago.
VirtualPC (VPC) installs in the current operating system such as XP and then
other operating systems can be installed within VPC. This allows the user
to work with XP and W98 (or other system) at the same time without
rebooting. W98 drivers are not a problem and as Noel says, you could even
run DOS. For more info:
