My friend asked me to format his computer, so I did but he is missing his
Authenticity Code. Is there a way for me to find it on the CD or am I in big
trouble? I cant continue setup without this code.

This may not be what you want to hear, but it is not on the CD.

Thanx, that was not what I wanted to hear. Since Windows 98 is going to b
losing its support, should he upgrade to Windows XP?

US customers can contact Microsoft at:  1 800 642-7676.  They will issue
retail and OEM product keys after verifying data located on the W98 CD.

There's a good chance his hardware is insufficient to run XP satisfactorily.
