Or is there a backup on my computer somewhere, where I can simply reinstall it. Or do I have to get the Games files from an outside source.

Frank If you don't have a Windows CD and don't have the setup files on the hard drive, then removing Games is not a good idea, as you won't be able to reinstall them without one of those.
As for your Winnet.exe error message, check that spelling and make sure it is winnet rather than wininet. If it is in fact winnet, then most likely, it is the Winnet variant of "CommonName" ad-ware/spyware.
Ad-Aware or SpyBot may remove it; otherwise, read the sections on manual removal of CommonName/Winnet: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/CommonName.html
Install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds. Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
Your best bet may be to download and run Hijack This, but don't remove anything with it yet: http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php Follow the instructions at this Tutorial: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ to save the log files and paste them into a new post at one of these forums: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showforum http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi http://tomcoyote.org/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&tI9
The folks there will tell you what to remove.
It is also possible that this is what you are seeing: App/Winnet-A: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/appwinneta.html

Saved it in My Documents and in My Briefcase. Would not open in either folder. Frustrated!!! Any suggestions?
glee - 20 Jan 2004 03:43 GMT Hijack This comes in a .zip file. Download the zip file, then extract the app to your desktop, using WinZip, and run it following the procedure in the tutorial.
What are you doing with it? Do you have WinZip or another app to unzip zip files? www.winzip.com

I ran Spybot S&D 3 times. 2nd time, I ran it in Safe Mode, and it came up with 1 file that it couldn't fix. But it told me it would Re-Run upon boot up and it did and Fixed everthing. Since then I have seen no evidence of that nasty little creature. I believe it's GONE. So, Glen, You've been a tremendous help. Very knowledgeable. And I want to thank you for your prompt responses. It was a very stressful time for me. Thanks for being there. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
