I have recently installed plug and play broadband and
since installation, when closing computer down,
immediately prior to the screen going off, the following
message appears:

WINMGMT
This program has performed an illegal operation and will
shut down.

The computer has been working perfectly prior to broadband.

Any clues or help.

Cheers

When you get an "illegal operation" error message, click the "Details" button, and
post back with the exact details word for word, up to but not including the memory
registers.

Are you in fact using Windows 98 or 98SE, or are you using Windows ME?

One thing you can try is to click Start> Settings> Control Panel> Add\Remove
Programs> Windows Setup tab,  double-click the Internet category, remove the check
mark from 'Web Based Enterprise Management', click OK, then click Apply.
