When I try to launch Nero I get the message: Need Windows
original WNASPI32.DLL.

In trying to help myself I looked at Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article - 129605 HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed
Windows Files. But have found these instructions useless
to me. I'm running Windows 98SE so I read in that section:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. Type sfc, and then press ENTER.

3. Click Extract one file from installation disk.

4. In the Specify the system file you would like to
restore box, type drive:\windows\path\file (where drive is
the drive where the Windows folder is installed, generally
drive C, path is the destination of the file that you are
extracting, and file is the file that you want to
extract).

Me again...I don't know the "destination of the file you
are extracting". I suppose it's destination is wherever it
was before it got lost, but I don't know where it was. I
have my original Windows 98SE disk.

Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to do to restore this
file (WNASPI32.DLL)to it's proper position and get Nero
working again?

It is a standard W98 file that you can extract from your CD to the
Windows/System folder using sfc.exe.

Run sfc.exe and select the "extract one file..." option.  Type in the
complete name of the missing file you want to restore or use the browse
button for a file replacement.  Click start and in the resulting window,
browse to the location of the folder containing the W98 .cab files (either
the hard drive or CDRom drive).  If the information in the "save in" box is
wrong, use the browse button to show where the file is to be restored to.
Click OK and if appropriate, on the resulting screen, show the location
where the file being replaced is to be backed up to.  Click OK or skip as
appropriate.  Restart your computer and the file replacement will occur
during the boot process.

If you are going to use sfc.exe for other than the extract option, I highly
recommend that you first read the article here:
