Hi, if i many programs on my desktop, does this slow the
start up process?

Not much if you can even measure it.  If you are having a slow boot, you
should be asking, "what causes a slow boot" and then go on to describe what
you believe is slow (takes X amount of time, hangs after X, etc.)
