For reasons unknown I was having Registry problems and my installed
PaperPort 9 would not load. So I uninstalled Paperport 9 and reinstalled. It
had a PaperPort Service Pack 3 which I next installed. To do a clean install
I first did a uninstall, I guess in doing so I also unload PaperPort Printer
Driver which should be easily installed by a program called "PaperPort
Printer Driver.msi", but when I now l run the small installation program I
these following messages:1. PaperPort Printer Driver Installer Information -
This Program requires administrator privileges on WindowsNT. Installation
will now abort. 2. PaperPort Printer Driver - InstallShield Wizard - The
wizard was interrupted before PaperPort Printer Driver could be completely
installed. Your system has not been modified, To complete installation at
another time, please run setup again. Now I'm running Operating System
Windows 98 SE (build 4.10.2222); Processor 400 megahertz Intel Pentium II:
with 382 Megabytes Installed Memory. I surmise there must be some registry
entry that running some .dll; .drv or .VXD file on installation and I do not
know what to look for or how to fix this require privileges on WindowsNT
when I have a Windows98 SE OP. I really need to have this PaperPort Printer
Driver to run the scanner.

Regarding the 'administrator privileges on Windows NT' error on Win98, I have seen
that mentioned before, and asked around.  I was told "Generally it's caused by
either someone canceling a Win9x logon (instead of logging in and/or resetting the
password to blank), or by spyware/adware apps."
(Thanks Richard Harper, MVP)

When you start the computer, if you get the Windows log-on box for user name and
password, do you choose a name and click OK, or do you click Cancel?

To check the system for spyware:
Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available here:

http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Close all browser windows and open apps, start CWShredder and click the Fix button.

Install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the
app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds.
Ad-Aware:

Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove
the items in RED only.
SpyBot S&D:

Install SpywareBlaster:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
Click the link in the app to check for and install updates, then click to 'Enable
all protection'.
Update at least weekly.
