I have 98SE with 30 gig of hard drive space and 312mb memory. I have tried to
install two seperate discs of MS Works 8 and neither one will install. When I
put the disk in it starts but then a square pops up in the middle of my
screen and says that I must have Windows 98SE to download. Thats the Windows
disc I have is Windows 98SE. Please anyone with any ideas I would thank you

Open Control Panel - System - General.

What does it say there about your Windows version name and number?

If Control Panel, System, on the General tab shows Win98 Second Edition
installed, then run the Msconfig utility (Click Start, Run, Msconfig, Okay).

Click Selective startup and then click to remove the check from Load startup
group items.  Click okay and restart when prompted.  Load MS Works and then
go back and run Msconfig and put the check back in the Load startup group
items box.

If you continue to have problems, please post the exact error message that
you get when the installation fails.
