malfunction after updates

Never run updates but I ran one on another computer and
now I can't type anything. When I try to hit letter "s"
it comes out as "\s". Some letters come out completely
differently or even as numbers. Tried to go through ms-
dos but same thing happened. Essentially, can't do
anything on that computer that requires typing.

If it does it in DOS too, then the keyboard needs to be replaced.
