Does Windows98 have the ability to perform a repair
install?  I am experiencing the problem with the loss of
desktop icons and start menu and can't seem to find any
solution.  I have a lot of info on the computer that I
don't really want to lose.  Is it possible to reinstall
the OS while leaving everything else intact?  Thanks for
the help.

windows can sometimes be installed back over itself to correct problems
but you may want to try restoring the registry first

1.  These repairs should not affect your data files.
2.  / Run / MSINFO32.EXE
/ Tools
Repair option.
3.  There are selective repair modulels in TweakUI.
