Hello Denise,
Perhaps you may be missing some system files from their
correct locations. Try r_unning "System File Checker" and
see if it shows any "Deleted" system files (m_ainly files
for the "Windows" or "Windows System" folders) and if it
does report such files as deleted, use SFC to restore
them. SFC may be able to restore deleted files from the
sub-folder at "Windows\Options\Cabs" or you may need to
have available your Win98 installation disk.
"System File Checker" ("SFC") is located by going_:
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information
and then in "System Information" go Tools/System File
Checker.
Unable to locate SFC - use "Find" to search for the
file "sfc.exe" and double-click it to start SFC.
In SFC click on "Settings..." and CHeck the box for "Check
for deleted files", then click on "OK" and carry out the
scan. To anything you are not sure about, you can click
on "Ignore" which means no changes are made.
If you cannot run SFC for some reason. Try running it in
Safe Mode.
If you have a virus on your system, it may not always be
possible to detect it in Windows. You may need to contact
McAffe to ask how to do a virus scan in DOS.

Hope that helps.
Best of luck.

Denise,
If you haven't run this program, I would recommend that you
download and install and UPDATE immediately after install and
then run the program...
Don't put the machine in the dumpster... You can always reformat
it and reload it and it will fix ALL ails other than hardware
problems.
ALSO, you might look at this web site for some more info:

I see quite a bit there about this..

I am continuing to experience more problems with my
system, am considering upgrading to XP Professional but
wondering if I should resolve these problems first. I have
kept a log of some of the things going on over the past
few days and here they are:
1. main problem is computer is hanging. Can't type in real
time and getting stuck in places I'd rather not be
2. fatal exception errors:
A fatal exception OE has occurred @ 0028:C0005137 in VXD
VMM(01)+00004137. Current application will be terminated.
A fatal exception OE has occurred @ 0028:C163B086 in
VXD ---. This was called from 0028:C0097ECC in VXD VKD(01)
=000001DO. It may be possible to continue normally.
A fatal exception OE has occurred @0167:BFFAADOB. Curent
application will be terminated.
3. As if that isn;t enough, when attempting to
troubleshoot and run misconfig the computer said it can;t
find misconfig or one of its components.
4. Finally,
The TASKPNL.EXE file is linked to missing export
E60CMMON.DLL:? Get RedirectFlag@YAHABY?
$CStrinT@DV$StrTraitMFC@DV?$ChTraitsCRT@D@ATL@@@@@ATL@@@Z.
(What the hell does all that mean?)and
C:|ProgramFilesEarthlink TotalAccess\TaskPanl.ex
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
These are all the symptoms beside a couple of damaged
caches I deleted. McAffee doesn't pick up any virus and I
regulalry clean up adware, spyware and check for Trojans
and worms.I'm thinking I shoukld just toss this thing in
the trash and get a new one but unfortunatley I can;t
afford to do that.Does anyone have a clue as to what is
going on here? Massive blessings to any and all who do...
