I have an old(Pavilion 7125) computer running at 133MHz  that has a problem
with the PS/2 mouse port.  In the Device Manager, I have an exclamation
point on the entry for the standard PS/2 Port Mouse. I have tried to install
the drivers, I have used the add new hardware wizard and it does not detect
the port at all. I have considered removing the registry keys for the
pointing devices, and then letting windows detect the pointing devices on
reboot, but not sure if that will solve my problem.  I had to connect a
serial mouse to my machine, but sometimes it is out of control.  I have a
win98se OS.  Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance, Rodfree.

First thing to do is on boot up go itno your BIOS and make
sure the PS2 ports are activated or on Auto Detect.

The other issue is make sure your mouse is fuctional, (if
possible, try on another PC)Make sure the mouse is properly
seated in the PS2 port.

If you have a spare USB port you can buy a PS2 to USB
adaptor.

Yes, Windows will rebuild and recognise the PS2 port, but
I think this is not the cause of the problem.

Thanks for your quick response.  Went into Bios setup, no way to activate
PS2 ports. setup says "not installed " for the mouse entry, but would not
give me access to change anything. I put a serial adapter on the same mouse
and it is working on a serial port. Will find another mouse to plug in to
PS2 port . I have no  USB ports.  Sometimes the cursor will start to move
all over the page, and I will not be touching the mouse at all.  Thanks
again, Rodfree.
