Virtualbouncer is spyware.
If you have that many to remove out of the msconfig/startup, I would
suggest that you download a free utility recommended by some of the
MVP's (forget which) named Startup Control Panel 2.8 by Mike Lin. You
can get it from
www.mlin.net
Once you download, open it and remove the checkmarks in any program
that you don't want in startup. The next time you reboot you will
notice that they have disappeared from the msconfig/startup tab.
Hope this is helpful

OK. Thanks. I'd forgotten about that one. As a matter of fact, I've
already got it. I'll put it on a floppy (it's only 58k) and head for his
place and see what it does!

It didn't show up under any of the tabs... :-(
I'm not going to worry about it... it's just an eyesore.
Virtual Bouncer C:\PROGRA~1\VBOUNCER\VIRTUA~1.EXE (unchecked)

See if there is a shortcut to it in
"C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Disabled Startup Items". If so,
delete it.

I'll be damned. That's where it was! I don't know *why* I didn't think
to look there! Deleted it and it dissappeared from msconfig too.
Thanks!

Since it appears you got rid of most of it.
Do you have this entry: VBouncerDL
In: hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run ?
If so delete it.
I there a folder in: c:\program files\VBouncer ?
If so delete it.

Oh well, I guess it isn't hurting anything.
Thanks for the ideas though.

Google turned this up: http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=514
Virtual bouncer = porn stuff and claims to be adware remover. Must pay them
to it removed thus some call it extorsionware. The folks at spywareguide
offer links to two removal tools.

Get rid of the malware/spyware Virtual Bouncer.
Virtual Bouncer:
http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?SPY=514
If it is in Control Panel> Add\Remove Programs, uninstall it from there.
Then, download and run this uninstaller:
http://www.spywarelabs.com/VirtualBouncerUninstall.exe

Looks like you've thouroughly fixed commercial malware, but what about
traditional malware (viruses, worms etc.)?
I'd http://users.iafrica.com/c/cq/cquirke/virtest.htm those using free
DOS-based av from www.f-prot.com , www.nod32.com or www.sophos.com
>Anyway, "Virtual Bouncer was calling for a DOS filename virtua~1.

See http://users.iafrica.com/c/cq/cquirke/startup.htm as well as
information on this within MSConfig itself.
>I deleted some of the weirder ones from run- in the registry. Never

They may be ghosts left over after an av killed the files themselves.

Norton AV's Windows-based, so not what I'd call exclusionry in this
context. Unlike commercial malware, which (as at April 2004 and
holding) can be tackled informally, traditional malware may entrench
themselves to foil informal scans and should be tackled formally.

Running Windows-based av to kill active malware is like striking
a match to see if what you are standing in is water or petrol.
