Reinstalling Windows 98

I have my original Windows 98 cd which came from Dell.  
Can anyone tell me the proper steps to reinstall Windows
98.  My registry is messed up along with other problems.  
I have been told I might lose some data, but I have put
the important stuff on floppies.
