I deleted a file in my C:\Windows\Temp folder which I now
need to uninstall some software.  Can anyone tell me how
to obtain the file.
{900b1197-535f-4f46-a882-2cfffe2eedcb}\Instdlg.dll
I do not know if this is a generic file or one specific to
my PC.

It is a file created by the install process of whatever application
you are now trying to uninstall.

All such files are supposed to be automatically deleted at the end of
the install process so why the uninstall would call for that file is a
bit of a mystery.  It seems that either the install did not fully
complete itself, or whoever developed that software is quilty of some
very shoddy programming.

Try reinstalling the app first, over top of the existing install, then
uninstall it.

Good luck

Ron, thanks for the tip.  I have already tried that and
got the same error message, Missing file C:\Windows\Temp.
About the only thing left is to edit the registry.

Install the latest installer see if it helps.
Download and install (run) MS installer
When trying to install a new program, the install shield wizard gets
everything ready, asks what language, then pops up with a dialog box that
says the "installer cannot continue because you need a windows service
package with a newer windows installer program".
