Drivespace error

Hello,

I've been trying to utilize Drivespace on Win98SE and each
time I try to compress the drive, I get an error message
saying that there are errors on the hard drive that must
be fixed first and that I should run Scandisk.  I run
Scandisk and it does not find any errors.  I then return
to Drivespace and again I get the message about fixing
errors.

Is this a known problem with Drivespace?  I can't imagine
it not being at this point in time.  Anyway, is there a
fix or a workaround?

Thanks for your help.

When you run scandisk on the hard drive make sure that the option to report
MS-DOS mode name length errors is checked. These filenames are not
considered an error in Windows, but they are seen as an error in DOS-mode
scandisk.

Richard,

I checked the options for Scandisk, they were set the way
they should have been.  When I re-ran DriveSpace, I got
the same error that I was before.  Do you have any other
suggestions?

Thanks again.

Have you run Scandisk from a boot to DOS?
