When I click onto Start Menu, and point to Documents, my
computer lists 15 files that I've recently opened.  I
would like it to only list 5 files.  How do I get Windows
to do this?

Right-click on the shortcut(s) that you do not want
and select Delete.

Or

Open C:\WINDOWS\Recent, then left-click each shortcut
to highlight it, then right-click and select Delete,
or click Delete on the Toolbar.

How do I *permanently* get Windows to list 5 recently
opened files?

If there is a way to do it, it would have to be through a Registry
tweak.

There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,

That would require a change to Windows itself
to enable a user to specify delimiters for each MRU list,
so, as it stands, you cannot do that.
