I'm unable to start up my PC. I think my harddrive is
full (C:\), and it's asking me to make space.
How do I do that if I can't start it up.
It won't go into Safe Mode.
The Windows boot disk does not work
When I try to boot up it stops at A:\
I've tried scandisk, and it asks me to free some space to
continue after approx.. 2 minutes.
The system is Windows 98 which is a upgrade from windows95
Please help!
Regards,
Iain

Boot to the floppy... at the a: prompt type in
del c:\windows\temp\*.*
Keep your fingers crossed that there is enough stuff there to delete. If that does not work you
will need to learn a few more ms-dos commands and look for something else to delete.
Then run scandisk -s to perform a surface scan of your hard disk.
If that does not work drive down to the local computer store and buy the cheapest hard
drive you can buy - no doubt it will be 10 times larger than what you have. Then simply
use the supplied utilities to copy your entire old hard drive contents to the new one

That's exactly what a boot disk does! It has a copy of DOS on it, that
is loaded and run and the result is the A:\> prompt. From here you can
examine your hard drive, look at and edit files on it (there's an
"edit" command on the floppy).
