Being a forums newby, I'd like to learn the elementary procedures that
I should follow for an easy and correct interaction with Aumha.
Can you tell me where can I find a help on that?

Just to avoid a misunderstandings on what I mean for elementary
procedures, here is a (partial) list of what I'd like to understand:

a) difference between "registering" and "logging-in"

b) given that I registered, and probably (not sure) logged-in when I
submitted my first post some weeks ago: should I log-in again
everytime I want to submit any new  or follow-up post?

c) given that I see a "postreply" button at either end of each topic
page, but none in intermediate positions: is it possible (as it is in
the newsgroups) to submit a follow-up to an intermediate post within a
topic? Perhaps this can be done by clicking the "quote" button on such
post?

d) today I wanted to submit a follow-up of a topic that was initiated
by myself time ago ... but ...
d1) clicking postreply, I was surprised to see a a blank "subject"
field: shouldn't the subject be automatically maintained throughout
the topic?
d2) I also saw an author field, but when I filled it with my
registered name the system rejected it because that name was "taken":
is this perhaps another problem due to the missing login of today?

Sorry to bother you with such naives questions,
thank you in advance

Registering gives you the capability to post and respond. Logging in is what you
need to do in order to post or respond. You only need to register once and you must
log in each time you're not to be an active participant.

Yes, you must login to participate.

PostReply will add your post to that discussion/topic in the order it was recieved.
If you wish to address a specific person, menton them in the beginning of your post.
Clicking on Quote will let you add a quote to the bottom of your post.

If you didn't log in, I don't believe you should even see ReplyPost. Login and see
what happens with the rest. Ask the last 2 questions to see if Jim or others have an
answer.

thank you Brian for your reply.

I think those rules of the game apply to most forums on the web, don't
they?

Now, just in case I might have more questions of that same nature in
the next future: can you tell me if/where I can find a short guide on
that, I mean a guide for newbies like myself?
You know, I hate taking the precious time of an expert for such
trivial issues   :-(

Best regards

Hi uplbet,
I'm a fairly new member of that forum, and because I needed a place to
"play" and get to know how things worked on that site, Jim formed a "Test"
group.  Give it a try, goof around, try quoting, replying to yourself,
different fonts, etc.
See you there.

Hi Curt
good to know about the test forum!
I'll pay a visit soon.
However, I'm a bit surprised to understand there is no other way to
learn the abc of participation to forums on some sort of help   :-(

Regards
