I have Windows 98 SE and was given this printer. I purchased just the black
cartridge as I cannot afford color--retired and fixed income. The test page
prints but when I go to print articles nothing prints. Is there a site I can
log in and troubleshoot this problem? Desperate for help!

CrystalBall© takes a wild guess and sez: IE Tools>Internet
Options>Advanced>Printing>Print background colors and images.

You may need both cartridges with some ink  for this printer to work. The
big problem is that these cartridges are very expensive (I didn't have much
success refilling and the old ones are probably too dried out to try anyway)
Much better to spend your money on a new cheap printer  with cartridges like
an Epson because after you will be able to obtain cheap compatible cartidges
from somewhere like www.choicestationary.com Bob

Lexmark printers come with a device driver cd, you did not say you had
installed the software, If you havent the cd goto (long link may wrap)
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:19:0:0&emeaframe
=&fileID=446

for the Windows 98 driver for lexmark printer.
PS Lemark printer Eat Ink cartridges, and they are relatively expensive, the
refill kits work about 5 times before the electronics inside the cartridge
start to go

When you say "nothing prints", what happens exactly?  Does the printer go through
the motions of printing, but the paper comes out blank?  Or is there an error
message?  Or does nothing happen at all?
