Are there any video codecs to watch DVD movies....

1) on a PI, 200Mhz machine with 64 MB RAM (all of it being used upon bootup,
plus some swap file)

2) on a PII, 350 Mhz machine with 384 MB RAM, (54 MB of that not being used as I
type this)

Yes

but you need a dvd drive
cdrom wont cut it

the 350 might give you ok video (generally 400mhz or better for video)

I can view DVD videos fairly well on my old K6-2 333MHz with 128MB RAM, using only a
DVD drive and Media Player Classic for Win98/ME:

The DVD drive needs a codec. I have WMP9 and nothing DVD-ish plays, but My
Computer can only see the data of the Video.

I didn't say use WMP, I said Media Player Classic, which is a third-party player
that includes the codecs to view the .vob files on DVDs.
