Right click on desk top---->display mode---->true colors----->last
option(exampe '400x600','600x800',etc...ast option with some '1154x800' not
sure of last value, but i cicked on last option) My monitor is 14''.

Thanks in advance for solution

Boot into Safe Mode and change it back.

Your 14" monitor cannot support that resolution.

Hi,

I did try to run in safe mode but still i got the same result as earlier
ie "sync out of range" . Even in safe mode I am not getting the desk top
before the desktop appears the message "sync out of range " is being shown.
   How do I solve this.

Thanks
Ram

Re-boot Windows in safe mode and use the same procedure to reset your
display resolution to a resolution/vertical refresh rate combination
that is compatible with your display.

Check your display manufacturer's web site to see if there is a Windows
98 driver available that will limit the options on the drop down to the
resolution/vertical refresh rat combinations your display can handle.

If there is no display driver available, check the manual that came with
the display for information about which vertical refresh rates are
compatible with your display. Note that some displays can't handle the
faster rates at higher resolutions. Click the advanced button in the
display properties dialog for settings specific to your video
accelerator hardware. Note that the code that generates the advanced
display properties dialog originates from you video accelerator's (or
motherboard manufacturer if integrated video) manufacturer, thus exact
procedures from the advanced video properties dialog vary. the drivers
for some cards permit automatic vertical refresh rate changes whenever
your display resolution changes. Often different vertical refresh rates
can be set for different resolutions.

hi,
Hi I did try to run in safe mode but i got the same result "sync out of
range".  I didnt get the desktop.
My system is dual bootable with win98 and win2000 server. I am able to
boot with win2000 server but with win98 I am getting "sync out of range" even
in safe mode.
In order to change the display driver I need to get atleast my win98
desktop which I am not able to get even in safe mode, then how do I solve
this.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Can you change the monitor to one that might be able to handle this screen
setting?  At least so you can get it back to something more sensible, or
perhaps demonstrate that it's a monitor fault.

Can you boot to a Command Prompt Only and see the C:\> prompt?
